Online career management resource to help guide unemployed professionals through the job market minefield
Bristol, Verridian PLC, the leading recruitment specialist, today announces the launch of Startallover.com, a one-stop shop providing 24/7 support, resources and information to professionals hit by the recession and jobseekers whatever their background.
Startallover.com has been launched in response to The Government’s multi-million pound drive to tackle unemployment amongst professionals as the recession hits executive and management jobs in several industries. The Verridian built service is now an official supplier to the Department of Work and Pensions.
Richard Harding, Director of Recruitment at Verridian PLC comments, “Startallover.com has been designed as a response to the growing number of executive workers who are losing jobs in previously safe and buoyant sectors. For many of these workers unemployment and the job market is an alien and daunting experience. Startallover.com can provide a useful additional tool for Job Centre’s that may need additional support in order to deal with a new kind of Jobseeker. As recruitment experts, we are delighted to have Startallover.com recognised by the Department of Work and Pensions as a valuable, extra resource.
Startallover.com offers individuals and businesses considering redundancies advice and guidance on all aspects of outplacement and career management. Members have access to several online tools ranging from CV writing, aptitude tests, interview advice, advice on strengths and development areas through to advice on potential new careers.
Unlike previous recessions professionals are being hit with more and more redundancies and facing long periods searching for new jobs. Work and Pensions secretary James Purnell recently commented, "This recession is different: it is very evenly spread across all regions and sectors."
This has been backed up by a recent Financial Times study that reported an upsurge in professional and management level unemployment, particularly amongst architects, quantity surveyors, lawyers, sales managers, advertising executives, estate agents, accountants and financial sector workers.
Office for National Statistics showed more than 210,000 people on unemployment benefits in March who previously held professional skilled roles, a 120% year on year increase and outstripping growth in unemployment amongst less skilled workers. The number of unemployed professional and executive workers has continued to grow since March.
